My Favorite Five From 2013

Another year has come and gone. Hard to believe at times how quickly the days go by.

This year I wanted to start FOCUSING on furniture makeovers. I really enjoy transforming a old, dirty left by the curb piece into something totally new.

Here are my TOP FIVE picks from 2013. Follow the link to the full post.

I'm starting with a Craig's List storage trunk. I originally had totally different colors in mind but I really like the way it turned out in the end.

Next up is a simple piano bench that was painted and updated with new fabric.

This nightstand that was by the curb got a chippy paint update.

The last two are pieces that were made into something totally different from where they started.

This garden bench started out as a headboard and a piece of a old shelving unit.

Love the way it turned out and can't wait to make some more.

For the biggest transformation we turned a baby changing table into a fabulous bar cart.

Perfect for a New Year Celebration!!

Well there you have it a few of my favorite projects from the past year.

I truly appreciate everyone who takes the time to read and follow my space in Blog- Land.
It's a big world out there and I'm happy to be a part of it in my own little way.

When I think about 2014 and what goals I want to achieve probably the biggest one is to BELIEVE
in myself and my abilities. Maybe because I found these letters when I was working on my Junk Holiday Mantel.
This post got a lot of mixed reviews some were love and some not so much, but we loved it being part of our home this holiday season and I'm so glad I went with what we truly like and appreciate.

Wishing you a very Happy New Year and as always THANKS for stopping by,

Happy New Year Mantel

Well, Christmas has come and gone so it's time to welcome in The New Year!!

While I was taking down the tree and decorations I decided to makeover my Junk Holiday Mantel to help celebrate.

I kept a few of the previous decor pieces and used the letters for "EVE".
Still might find a number 31 to go with them.

I added a champagne bucket and some glasses.

Placed a rusty spring around a champagne bottle. And draped silver party bag filler all over.

I also added a few jars of beach sand since we usually spend New Years Eve at the beach.

Santa was good to me this year and brought me a new camera.

I'm still working with the settings but I love it so far.

Wishing you a Happy New Year!!

ICE: With Frosty The Snowman

Here in Orlando, Florida we have no snow, but we do have ICE every year at the Gaylord Palms. We have been going for the past few years with whatever family members are in town as a new tradition. This year my brother and my niece joined me, along with my Mom and my daughters Erin and Melissa.

This year's theme was Frosty The Snowman!!

It's a very cold 9 degrees inside so they give you big blue parkas to wear but you have to bring your own hats, gloves, mittens and scarfs. Have the fun is just getting ready to go inside.

Of course the day we went it was 85 degrees outside so putting on all the winter gear just made you uncomfortable.

Well here we go. Just a lot of random pictures of our icy adventure.
Everything except for the real people is made from ICE.

Heading into the Town Square for the Ice Slides!!

And my Mom being silly.

Heading to the North Pole.

Oh No!! Frosty melted!!

Remember the rules about NOT licking the ice??
This was as close as they got.

This year they added an area where the carvers were actually creating more ice sculptors.

The end is always the Nativity made of ice.
By this point my fingers were completely frozen.

When you are on your way out and warming up they have this cute sign.

And then we get back to reality and warmer weather.
My lens fogged from going back to a warm temperature.

This is always such a fun, frigid adventure for us.

Thanks for coming along!!

Joyful Rustic Sign

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season so far. Although I know many of you are in a deep freeze we are still having summer like weather in Orlando. This is both good and bad because with it being still in the 80's most days it just doesn't feel very Christmas like.

On to a very simple sign. Give me a "J".

Give me an "O".

Give me a "Y".

Put it all together and what do you get?

Just a simple double panel pallet sign. I painted the boards black then white and distressed.

Then I stenciled on the JOY painted the letters red and distressed them again.

It needed a little more something so I added a rusty timing chain gear and a red ribbon bow.

This was really a simple sign to make and perfect front door greeting.

Happy Holidays,
