WOW! It's been awhile since my last post and even longer since I've had a finished project to share!!
We have been so busy lately with other things that blogging and posting have been lacking. Sometimes you just have to take a break and live life!! There has been a slight change in the weather recently and the humidity is finally at a decent level to finish a few long awaited projects.
The first is another curbside find from our neighborhood.
Just a lonely nightstand sitting all by itself just waiting on a new home and a makeover.
The bottom track for the drawer was broken so I just removed the whole piece
and decided to add a new wood bottom and a basket.
The square basket fit perfectly once the top handle was removed.
A little blue spray paint update to match the color theme and it was ready to be used for storage. The basket was purchased at a local thrift store for less then $2.00.
Great find I think.
I wanted it to have a real chippy finish so I rough sanded, applied Vaseline thinly in a few areas then painted.
The base is white and the top is also white with some grey over it. For the drawer I did the grey under and a lighter blue- grey over it. Then let all dry. It took me a few days to get back to it at this point and then it was time for the fun part of sanding. I LOVE distressing and LOVE the way it all turned out.
Just look at the chippy goodness from the Vaseline.
I've discovered the secret when applying the Vaseline is to use a very thin coat and let the paint dry completely. This worked great on this piece because it dried far a few days before I sanded it
The sides are chippy good too!!
I simply LOVE this makeover!! And since it was a curb find and I already had the paint, which was free also this was a cheap, chippy update. The pulls I just reused after spray painting them blue also.
As for the bottom drawer it is in the process of becoming a storage foot stool.
