Metal Monday - Car Rim Planters

Last Friday Mike came home with a truck-bed full of flowers.... and a little junk!

They were completing some landscaping at his work and apparently had a lot of leftover flowers so of course he and a few co-workers  brought some home.

Along with the flowers he picked up two car rims and some other junk.
While unloading all of this I thought how cool to incorporate the metal
rims with all those flowers!

They were perfect size and already had built in drainage holes.
We thought they needed to be off the ground a little so Mike welded
on leftover pieces of scroll to add legs.

Mike also added two metal flowers with leaves to the middle of the rim.
He first added a solid plate to the center of the rim and then welded
the flowers to it.

The holes in the rim were a little big so I covered the bottom and part of
the sides with moss to help with drainage and to keep all the
soil from falling through.

The next step was to add potting soil and some of the flowers.

We made two so far but plan on a few more.
They each have three legs.

We love the way they turned out.
It was fun to add a very manly piece of metal
to some very feminine flowers.

Thanks for stopping by.

Enjoy your week,
