We certainly are in Florida. Between Bike Week, Spring Breakers and some warm weather this week it got me in the mood to pick up a few flowers at the nursery.
In trying to come up with a simple idea I came across four metal buckets that Mike acquired. So together we painted some boards and added the buckets and metal butterflies.
The boards I painted white first then added a beachy blue and coral color. Then sanded to distress a little.
Mike cut the butterflies from scrap metals using the plasma cutter. Then they were primed and painted.
Last year he discovered by combining two colors with the top one fluorescent the paint will "crackle".
Then is was time to attach everything to the boards. Mike used a Whitney Punch to add the holes to the butterflies. And we used the plasma cutter to make small holes in the buckets. I even used it to add small holes to the bottoms of the buckets so the water can drain.
Then we attached everything with screws and the drill.
Mike cut flat stock metal to size and added them to the back to create a hanger.
Once all elements were combined, they made cute hanging planters.
For now the flowers are still in there pots from the nursery, but they can be planted too!
Few more pictures.
This was a fun and pretty simple project. We made our butterflies, but any metal decoration could be added.
Looking forward to Spring officially starting this week.
Mike has even added a few more metal flowers to our growing garden!
Enjoy your week!
