Love Note Tote

I have had a little wooden crate hanging around for a long time. It was purchased from a local thrift store for a few dollars, just because I knew eventually it would be turned into something cute.

Of course I can't find the before picture, but it was just a basic little crate for a kitchen. It had a very country motif of roosters on it. So it needed an update...

I thought with Valentines upcoming it would be a perfect little tote caddy for love notes and flowers.

I was looking through my containers of parts and pieces and came across some metal hearts that were leftover from previous projects. The large red ones were from a Ford truck hood that Mike had cut out and the smaller silver ones are from scrap stainless.

The red ones have a little rust on the edges, but that gives them some character.

I re-painted the crate red first and after drying I painted a semi-gloss white on top. Then I did a light sanding on most of it, except for the edges. These were done a little more to look worn.
For the handle, I just wrapped with twine.

I just screwed in the hearts and added one dangling silver heart. The flower bottles are Starbucks Iced Coffees that come in a 4- pack. Yes I save a lot of bottles for future use. You can see the bottles in the front of this picture.

To the other side I added three of the silver hearts.

It holds three bottles for flowers on one side and on the other I added some Valentine Note Paper and Love Coupons.

It has finally turned into a cute little crate, full of personality. Mike and I are going to write little notes to each other and place inside. We promised each other not to read them until Valentines Day.

And YES he did bring me the flowers today to complete this little makeover!!

I hope you enjoyed my little crate/ tote makeover. It came out so cute!

Thanks for stopping by.
