*** BEST OF 2012 ***

Since I am still new to the blogging world and have only been doing it a few months, finding my BEST OF 2012 seems a little odd. I did want to share some of  my favorite projects and most viewed.

One of my favorites and newest completion was my wine bar pallet.
I love the way the stain and paint combination turned out.

My chalkboard received a lot of views both thru the blog and on Hometalk. This came from a purchase at  a Habitat ReStore which is a great source for materials.

My first attempt at re purposing something turned into a wine crate table. This also sold at the very first show we took it too!!

My most viewed and commented on was the pallet coffee table. This was a combination of wood and metal and was also a feature on Roadkill Rescue.

I have really learned a lot in the past few months since starting this blog both about myself and all the wonderful, talented people out there. I have many plans for next year and improving my skills both as a DIYer and as a blogger.

If you are viewing for the first time or hopefully this is not your first visit, I invite you to join and follow along in 2013. I am also trying to grow on Facebook, Pinterest and Hometalk. Links are in the sidebar if you feel so inclined to click and follow.

Wishing all a very healthy, prosperous and Happy New Year!!

Wine Down Wednesday

With less then a week to go before the big day, let's take a little time to relax. I have the perfect spot.

This is a little sign created from three scrap boards. I just rough painted the bottom two and stained the top one. Painted on the lettering and after a few screws to hold together I wrapped the ends with twine to add a little something and create a way to hang.

It goes perfect with my pallet wine bottle bar.

***** One For The Dogs *****

For today's post I have 2 special guests. Molly and Murphy. They are my crazy, cute pugs who want to share their "PUG CRUNCHIES" recipe with all their blog dog friends.  The following was written by them!!

We first made these along with a few other recipes 2 years ago since everyone in our family owns a dog or two or three!! That time our "cousin" COLBY joined us along with Melissa and Erin.  Oh yeah, I was just a puppy still and Molly wasn't part of our family yet...

Of all the recipes our crunchies were the easiest. Only 4 to 5 ingredients, so lets get started!!

The original recipe didn't have peanut butter, but since we are addicted to it we decided to add about 2 tablespoons to the recipe. If you do not like it just leave it out.

All the ingredients get dumped in the mixing bowl and you just mix until a ball is formed.

Then you just roll out the dough and cut it with your favorite cookie cutter shape. We picked a gingerbread man and a candy cane. Of course we get to lick the beater too!!!

Then you just put in the oven and wait for them to bake and get crunchy, about 45 - 60 minutes. Sometimes that's the hardest part.

While we were waiting to eat some treats we found a little time to play and work up more of an appetite.

Finally done and then just on a rack to cool. Store in a tight container.

So here is the recipe written out.

1 large jar of baby food meat flavor
1 - 1 1/2 cup wheat flour
1 cup of wheat germ
1 egg
about 2 tablespoons peanut butter if you want.

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Mix all ingredients until firm. Roll out on floured surface to 1/2" thick. Cut into your favorite shape and bake on ungreased cookie sheet  for 45 - 60 minutes depending on how crunchy you want them. Cool on rack and store in air tight container.

That's it. Pretty simple right. Of course after all this work it was time for a nap!!

We hope you enjoyed our post and wishing all our dog ( and cat ) friends a Merry Christmas!!

Mantel and Pallet Tree Update

Well I finally got around to putting up our pallet tree. I even acquired an awesome upgrade in the form of a little red wagon.

This little beauty was heading for the dumpster last weekend because the front wheels had broken off. Of course Mike grabbed it and he had it fixed in about 10 minutes!!

It is still like new but I plan on leaving it outside to become an old rusty beauty.
