Feeling Beachy

Today there is a hurricane of the coast of Florida- Frankenstorm Sandy-. Luckily we have not received much from it in Orlando and hoping all will be safe wherever the storm heads next. I have been busy lately with some beach inspired projects and thought I would share a few today.

This little beauty was created from a pallet. I paint it with white and a seaside blue color-  Words are painted in a coral pink color. Hooks were added for hanging your hats and towels. The bottom is open for storage of beachy things. I also spray painted the bottom with "STONE" spray paint, but if you do it lightly it looks like sand. Palm tree is made from metal and spray painted, it just adds a little something to the piece.

Walking On Sunday

This weekend we were vendors at The Cocoa Village Art and Craft Show. It was a great weekend both in sales and in the weather. This morning I took a walk around and would like to share some photos.

Our booth this morning- A little empty- thought I got a booth shot on Saturday.

The weather was just beautiful in Florida this weekend, in the 80's and not a cloud in the sky. It was actually a little chilly this morning but it felt great and suddenly fall had finally arrived. Mike makes bar/shop stools for the guys. These were great this weekend to go along with Biketoberfest in Daytona Beach.

Clear Blue Sky
Crowds were great all weekend. Lots of lookers and best of all lots of buyers!! It seemed to be a good weekend for all.

This was truly a craft show that we have enjoyed attending in the past. It did go through a transition period where vendors and patrons we down in numbers. Great to see that it is coming back to increased attendance by all.

Come along now for a walk by the river on a beautiful fall day in Florida.

Florida Pumpkins

It's been a busy weekend getting ready for a fall art and craft show next weekend. Mike has been creating, "carving" and painting the last few days.

These are made from old recycled freon cans that are used in the ac business. They are completed safe to cut into. Mike uses a plasma cutter and does all cutting by hand - no computer program - is used to create these one of a kind pumpkins.

I painted a couple of the signs stating most female driving skills and Mike kindly added a broom made from metal. It's a comical piece that I saw painted in a magazine for sale but I gave it our own special spin to incorporate some metal.

I have also painted a few trays using pallet boards and attaching handles. These can be used propped on a table or mantel for display or can be used for serving appetizers or small plates.

The pumpkins have been painted with Rustoleum spray paint to ensure many years of Halloween use. Once a candle is added and it gets dark outside you can truly see how creative and fun these are. The best part is no rotting!!!  There are also some spiders being created and will post pictures soon.

Mike's Metal Studio will be a vendor at the Cocoa Village Fall Art and Craft Show next weekend- October 20 and 21. If you are in the area please stop by and say hi!!

Have a wonderful week Ya'll... Happy Fall!!

Wine Crate Table

This weekend I did a little table project created from a wine crate that I bought at a garage sale for $3.00. Yes I wish there were more because they make great storage containers and also can be used in many different projects.

Simple Fall Mantel

Everyday mantel, dust included
Well according to the calender it is officially fall, but here in Florida it's still 90 plus degrees and let's not even discuss the humidity lately. I don't have a fireplace or mantel to speak of, but I do have a lovely old piano that was saved from a co-workers of Mike's garage. Yes it was going to the curb the next day so of course I had to go get it. It needs work but I have plans for creating a bar from it one day. It is usually filled with family photos, collections and dust, but I thought it would make a great display for fall.
